Pere Marquette State Park in Grafton will host the Two Rivers Family Fishing Fair on June 6. Event hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the park, which is near Grafton on Illinois 100. There are no admission or parking fees, and no fishing license or gear is needed to participate.

Wisconsin Mixed Bag: Deadline for Wisconsin residents to apply for a 2026 elk license is May 31

The Wisconsin DNR reminds Wisconsin residents that they have until May 31, 2026 to apply for a chance at a 2026 elk hunting license. Wisconsin’s elk hunting season is open only to state citizens. Apply online via gowild.wi.gov or at state license agents.

Disease outbreak cuts Wyoming wolf numbers to lowest level since reintroduction

A flare up of a disease that’s especially lethal to wolf pups took a toll on Wyoming and Yellowstone National Park wolf numbers in 2025, reducing biologists’ counts to a level last seen when wolves were still reestablishing following the species’ historic 1995-96 reintroduction.
“It was the lowest number of wolves in 20 years,” Wyoming Game and Fish Department wolf biologist Ken Mills told WyoFile.
