St. Paul A series of road checks, conducted by the Minnesota DNR, found many boats and trailers clean of harmful aquatic plants and animals such as Eurasian watermilfoil or zebra mussels.

State conservation officers recently conducted exotic species/aquatic plant transportation road checks near Baudette checking 85 vehicles during a two-day period. Zimmerman, Minn. A citizens committee advising the Minnesota DNR Forestry Division will present its recommendations regarding the Sand Dunes State Forest shooting range which closed in 1998 at a 7-9 p.m., June 20 meeting at Zimmerman Junior High School.

The committee will recommend that reopening a shooting range in the Sand Dunes would be incompatible with other uses and with the current rate of development in the area, and that horse camp facilities be divided between the north and south units of the forest. The recommendations have been accepted by DNR Commissioner Allen Garber.
