Walker, Minn. Eelpout will become the preferred fish and walleyes will be designated rough fish when the 23rd International Eelpout Festival comes to Walker, Feb. 15-17.

St. Paul The artwork of Rebecca Latham will be featured on Minnesota’s 2003 Wild Turkey Stamp. Her design was picked as the winner from 24 entries at the National Wild Turkey Federation state convention last week.

The Hastings native receives no compensation for the victory, but retains reproduction and marketing rights. Runner-up to Latham was Micah J. Hanson, of Dakota, followed by Laurence D. Huls, of Avon.

Brainerd, Minn. The Brainerd Jaycees $150,000 Ice Fishing Extravaganza has been postponed to Feb. 9, and will move to North Long Lake due to poor ice on Gull Lake, where the event has been held in the past.

The extravaganza, which typically draws more than 10,000 people, will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Check the website, www.icefishing.org or call (800) 950-9461 for more information. Event prizes include cash, snowmobiles, fishing equipment, a new pickup, and more. Event proceeds are donated to Courage Learning Center and other charities.
