St. Paul Minnesota’s newest conservation license plate will feature a loon. The design, by artist Wendy Amundson of Red Wing, was selected this week from six finalists.

A panel of judges, as well as those who voted on the DNR web
site, selected the winning entry.

The new plate will be the first Minnesota license plate offered
by the Department of Public Safety that utilizes new flat plate
printing technology developed by 3M. The conservation license
plates will be available to Minnesota motorists beginning in May
for a minimum contribution of $30. For more information on the
license plate, call (651) 296-0907. The Conservation License Plate
generates funds for the Reinvest in Minnesota Critical Habitat
Matching Account. The plates have generated nearly $4 million in
six years.
