Commentary: Are powerline corridors a missed opportunity for wildlife benefits in Minnesota?
Minnesota is fortunate to have over 12 million acres of public land, of which 5.6 million acres are managed by the state and 2.8 million acres are managed by counties. These lands provide trees for the timber industry, fish and wildlife for hunters and fishers, trails for hikers, skiers, and recreation vehicle users, and refuges for rare plant and animal species.
Unfortunately, our public lands also often provide a convenient location for powerline rights of way.
