Final Ohio deer kill tops 200,000 for fourth straight year

Ohio hunters checked 232,142 white-tailed deer during the 2025-26 season that concluded on Sunday, Feb. 1, according to the Ohio DNR (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.
The season total includes all deer taken during archery, gun, muzzleloader, and youth seasons since Sept. 13, 2025. This is the seventh highest total on record, topping 200,000 for the fourth consecutive season.

Public invited to comment on Minnesota DNR’s proposed harvest limits for native rough fish

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources invites the public to comment on proposed rules related to daily and possession limits on native rough fish.
Under the new proposed rules, these fishes – including bowfin, buffalo, carpsucker, freshwater drum, goldeye, mooneye, quillback, redhorses and suckers – would also get a variety of other protections.

Amnicon Lake’s pike have shifted muskie, walleye populations in this northwest Wisconsin water

The largest change has been the introduction of northern pike that were first detected in Bear Lake in 1997 and likely traveled through Bear Creek and the Amnicon River to invade Amnicon Lake. They were first documented in Amnicon Lake in 2006 surveys.
