Ohio Insider: Duck hunter numbers dwindling in the state

The number of waterfowlers in Ohio has hovered between 20,000-22,000 for the better part of the past decade. (Stock photo)

Until I had a recent conversation with ODNR Division of Wildlife waterfowl biologist Dave Sherman, I had no idea that Ohio has relatively few duck hunters.
Granted the Buckeye State isn’t flush with water like say Minnesota is, I was still surprised to learn that Ohio has only about 20,000 duck hunters today. It wasn’t always that way, though, according to some statistics that Sherman shared with me.
