New ruling now allows simple suppressor sales in 27 states; here’s what to know

A recent decision by a federal judge in Texas caused celebration among suppressor enthusiasts in 27 states and other gun rights supporters across part of the country while also creating confusion for some.
What it ultimately means for prospective suppressor buyers depends on where they live. In Wisconsin, nothing has changed much, but neighboring Minnesotans can now buy a suppressor just as they would a new firearm by simply passing a background check.
