Christine Thomas: A foggy morning in the turkey woods

Christine Thomas hunted turkeys on a very foggy morning in central Wisconsin on opening morning of the first season. After watching three fully grown toms just out of shooting range for a while, Thomas opted for this jake as it came running in from the opposite direction. (Photo by Christine Thomas)

The little cabin forests and fields had a great deal of turkey action all winter.
Trail camera photos showed at least two, and maybe three, sizable flocks. The tom/jake flock had at least 15 birds in the entourage. All winter long I forwarded photos to my youth hunter’s father, as well as my regular turkey hunting friends, Charmaine Wargolet, of Brookfield, and Elaine Kalmbacher, of St. Cloud. Readers have followed our exploits for many seasons.
