What are you throwing in 2026? Top anglers share their baits, setups for the new year

My first fishing article for the new year traditionally revolves around places I would like to fish once lures start splashing instead of ricocheting.
This year, instead of planning where to go, I am searching for ideas about what to throw. If you are a fan of the old movie “Casablanca,” there’s a line where the French police captain, Louis Renault played by Claude Rains, tells his subordinates to “round up the usual suspects.” That best describes the anglers I recently contacted for this article.
The question posed to each of them was “What new lure, new to you lure, or new technique are you going to try in 2026?”
