Longtime hunter safety instructor among 11 recognized as volunteers for Illinois’ outdoors

Art Schuetz, a longtime hunter education instructor, is one of 11 individuals and organizations being recognized by Illinois DNR as 2025 “outstanding volunteers of the year.” (Contributed photo)

Schuetz, who considers the Highland Pistol and Rifle Club home, started the hunter safety course at the club with a friend, and he continues to host about 100 students for classes each year. He’s also helped teach DNR boater education courses as well..
