New York’s spring gobbler and small game hunters respond to DEC surveys

New York turkey hunters averaged 4.2 hours afield for each day spent hunting, and averaged 4.5 days of hunting over the season. (Stock photo)

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation recently surveyed several New York spring turkey hunters about their season and harvest. DEC also surveyed small game hunters and reported on the results.
For the turkey hunting survey, the agency said the response provides valuable hunting effort and harvest information, ultimately helping the agency to effectively manage turkey populations for future hunting opportunities.
