Dan Ladd: Some good news on New York’s fishing front

The state’s May 30 announcement that $100 million is headed for fish hatchery improvements, and even a hatchery replacement in Randolph, is fantastic news for New York anglers.
It’s also the realization of the promise of the 2022 Clean Water, Clean Air and Green Jobs Environmental Bond Act, which was approved that year by New York voters. As DEC notes, fish hatcheries contribute up to $5 billion in economic benefits annually. Some facilities, however, are in better shape than others and this “modernization” initiative will surely help address that.
