Jeff Frischkorn: Where is the ‘bonus money’ going from state park fracking in Ohio?

When the Ohio General Assembly and the Mike DeWine Administration crafted the state’s pro-fracking initiative, the cherry on top was how 30% of all the so-called “bonus money” goes back to the impacted state park or wildlife area.
Such an infusion of cash was earmarked for capital improvements at the specific park or wildlife area. Yet I would bet that folks would not believe that half of the $20 million taken from the Ohio DNR’s Land Royalty Fund would go to Salt Fork State Park’s publicly owned/privately run lodge for “upgrades to the rooms.”
