A significant increase in late-winter success combined with slight bumps in the take by archery and firearms hunters led to an overall spike in the Illinois 2024-25 deer harvest.
DNR reported that hunters took a total of 170,758 deer, more than 10,000 more than the 2023-24 harvest of 160,313. The deer season ended Jan. 19, but DNR was quick to turn around final kill numbers, along with the sex ratio of deer taken.
