If you happen to be on an Ohio lake and catch a mess of yellow perch and bluegills, it is safe to make two meals a week from that catch.
That is one of the highlights of the 2024 Fish Consumption Advisory issued annually by the Ohio Department of Health (ODH).
Most Ohio sport fish are safe to eat one meal per week, unless there is a more or less restrictive advisory outlined in the Ohio Sport Fish Consumption Advisory. ODH advises this general statewide advisory due to low level mercury contamination.
