Of all the canine furbearers, I get why some people mistake a coyote for a domestic dog.
Depending on the pelt coloration, and even vocalizations, domestic dogs and coyotes have some similarities. Behavior, however, shouldn’t be a common bond. Around our farm, coyotes have been a common sight for years. They howl from the fields at night – something I used to consider a neat serenade but now is more of a raucous annoyance.
