Illinois Trappers Association annual fur sale features 1,960 pelts

Raccoons made up a huge percentage of the furs processed at the annual Illinois Trappers Association fur sale in 2023. (Stock photo)

When prices are high – particularly on raccoon and muskrat, two of Illinois’ bread and butter furs – the sale can process upwards to 10,000 furs. This year the tally was 1,960 pieces of fur – 1,192 of them raccoons.
