Michigan’s U.P. wolf pack tally has been stable for years

A DNR survey of the number of wolves in the Upper Peninsula revealed an estimated minimum population of 631 wolves, plus or minus 49. The survey also tallied an estimated 136 packs. (DNR photo)

Wildlife biologists from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources released their findings of the latest Michigan gray wolf survey in January, and results from 2022 show a population of 631 in the Upper Peninsula.
