Another View: Love for Minnesota’s youth waterfowl weekend

For the first time since 2019, my son and I did not head out onto a local wetland to partake in last weekend’s Minnesota Youth Waterfowl Weekend. Not for lack of interest, quite the contrary, but simply because he’s now 18 years old and a college freshman launching his pursuit of a natural resources management degree.
In other words, we’re waiting for the Sept. 26 regular opener because the desire to hunt and fish is firmly ingrained. So much so that he’s embarking on a career where protecting, managing, and promoting the outdoors will be his daily bread.
