Ohio DNR, DOW set to benefit from new capital budget

Gov. Mike DeWine is term-limited and will leave office at the end of the year. Before he departs, however, he signed a budget bill put together by the General Assembly that includes money for the ODNR and the Division of Wildlife for land acquisition, as well as a number of other important projects. The Ohio General Assembly untied the state’s purse strings and gave the Ohio DNR more than $265 million for various capital improvement projects over the next two years.
This largesse was just part of the legislature’s biennium (every two years) $3.7 billion Capital Improvement Budget and signed by Gov. Mike DeWine. It is important to remember that a biennium Capital Improvement Budget is the flip-side of the state’s money authorization coin, the also biennium State Operating Budget.
