The arrival of August means sporting licenses will be going on sale. At press time, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation had yet to announce a hard date, but the agency expected hunting and trapping license sales to begin at some point during the week of Aug. 3.
This is also when hunters can begin to apply for antlerless deer permits, known as Deer Management Permits, or DMPs.
