Two bills that have sparked significant controversy among recreational anglers have not advanced but are still alive in the Michigan legislature.
House bills 5801 and 5802 aim to expand commercial fishing on the Great Lakes that’s currently largely restricted to whitefish and perch to include the potential harvest of walleyes, lake trout, and rainbow trout under certain conditions.
