History provides context on just how good Pennsylvania spring turkey hunters have had it lately.
During the state’s first spring turkey season in 1968, the total take was 1,636. Compare that to last year, when hunters harvested an estimated 42,543 birds. Not only was that the largest spring turkey harvest in the last five years, it wasn’t far off the all-time record of 44,639, set in 2009.

The Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission announced April 21 that the 2026 creel limit for Lake Erie yellow perch will remain at 30 per day and the creel limit for walleyes will stay at six per day.

Michigan Department of Natural Resources officials are hoping someone can shed light on a recent series of deceased eagles in the Upper Peninsula’s Garden Peninsula – a piece of land that extends south from Delta County and is bordered by Big Bay de Noc to the west and Lake Michigan to the east.

A bald eaglet from a nest at a U.S. Steel plant near Pittsburgh was recovering from surgery on April 18 to remove a fish hook from its gut.
While it took a collaborative effort by arborists, wildlife rehabilitators and a West Virginia veterinary team to pull off the risky operation, the raptor – then just two weeks old and weighing 2 pounds – came through with flying colors, and was returned to its parents.
