The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation documented seven hunting-related shooting incidents (HRSIs) during the 2025 hunting seasons, and none were fatal, according to a recently released report.
The total lands below the 10-year average of HRSIs recorded since record keeping began more than 70 years ago and the low numbers make the 2025 hunting season the safest in New York’s recorded history.
