From now until March 31, researchers in Minnesota are trapping and radio collaring whitetails in and around the Fond du Lac Band of Chippewa reservation. They aim to track deer movement and habits in the vicinity in anticipation of the northeast elk restoration.
The catalyst for the study, says Jacob Haus, associate professor at Bemidji State University and project manager, is capturing data on deer before elk hit the landscape.
