Changing Wisconsin’s Oct. 31 sturgeon spearing tag deadline could increase the cost of license

Moving the Oct. 31 Lake Winnebago sturgeon spearing license deadline closer to the February season date could end up increasing the cost of the $20 tag by three, four or even five times.
Sturgeon enthusiasts have questioned the need for the early purchase deadline on-and-off over the years, with the topic coming up again recently by readers of this newspaper.
