Minnesota DNR proposes walleye limit reduction from six to four

The Minnesota DNR made formal this week its proposal to reduce the statewide walleye limit from six fish to four (both daily and possession limits).
The current regulation of only one walleye over 20 inches in possession would remain in place, according to an agency news release. If approved, the change would take effect March 1, 2027.
“It was time to ‘call the question,’” Brad Parsons, DNR Fisheries Section manager, told Outdoor News at the agency’s roundtable event in Brooklyn Center last Friday, shortly after a session during which it was stated that the proposal would be made available for public comment on Monday.

‘Dinosaur Fish’ documentary traces Michigan’s sturgeon restoration

Fans of fish, particularly big, old, unusual fish, have a new way to learn about them: “Dinosaur Fish,” a 23-minute documentary film available online at SaginawBaySturgeon.org. That’s a website of the Saginaw Bay Watershed Initiative Network (WIN).
The film, which traces Michigan restoration of the giant fish, was premiered in December for a standing-room-only audience at the Delta College Planetarium in Bay City.

Ohio hunter arrows massive non-typical buck after a second encounter

Zac Prickett was fortunate enough to have two encounters this past fall with a massive buck he had been watching since last year.
The second such encounter paid off for Prickett on Nov. 1 when he arrowed the 22-point, non-typical buck.
“It was definitely something magical for sure,” the St. Paris hunter said.
