New state law bringing clearer license rules for Illinois hunters

While new laws giving landowners and farmers more flexibility to hunt nuisance deer got a majority of the attention as the calendar flipped to 2026, a lesser-known law is expected to “clean up” the hunting license process in the state.
The new law is the result of House Bill 3678, which has a goal of “clarifying and simplifying hunting license rules for the public.”

Minnesota DNR ’26 Roundtable is set for this Friday; here’s what’s on the agenda

The 2026 Minnesota DNR Roundtable event returns Friday, with this year’s rendition occurring at the Heritage Center of Brooklyn Center. While the day’s format remains much the same as those of years past, some agenda topics this year are unique.
This year, rather than a morning “keynote” speaker or a message from agency or state officials, the kick-off will feature Outdoor News Managing Editor Rob Drieslein pitching questions pertinent to the outdoors to a panel of three state legislators.
