Three habitat projects to benefit turkeys, hunters in Illinois

Work to benefit turkeys will take place at Devil’s Prop State Natural Area in Jefferson County, Sam Dale Lake State Conservation Area in Wayne County, and the Shawnee National Forest. (Stock photo)

Three major conservation projects covering roughly 3,000 acres in Illinois are designed to improve habitat and benefit both turkeys and turkey hunters.
The trio of projects were among those highlighted by the National Wild Turkey Federation as 2025 wound down.
