Tracking a white-tailed buck in the snow looks dreamy in photos.
It has all the elements that make a nostalgic hunting postcard scene: a clean white landscape, hanging branches, and a wool-clad hunter moving like a gentle whisper through fresh powder. My reality was a lot less polished. It was not smooth at all.
