The Yahara Fishing Club (YFC), one of the oldest conservation groups in Wisconsin, celebrated its 80th anniversary Nov. 8.
Originally formed in 1945 as the Yahara Fisherman’s Club, the non-profit club has been an advocate for lakes around the Yahara River. Its longest active member is Jack Hurst, 92, of Madison. He joined the club in 1952 when he worked at the Gisholt Machine Company in Madison and soon learned about YFC.
