Largemouths and smallmouths in a short sprint from Ohio to Michigan

St. Clair Shores, Mich. —“I’m going to do some R & D tomorrow. Meet me at the 9 Mile ramp at 8:00 if you want to go.”
That text came across my phone as I was returning to a boat ramp near Monroe, Michigan, after a successful day of fishing for Lake Erie largemouth bass. While better known for walleyes, perch, and smallmouth bass, Lake Erie harbors a healthy green bass population that can be found in marinas and on breakwalls that line its extensive shoreline.
