Oaks are having a moment in parts of Penns Woods, producing bumper crops of mast not seen in years.
In general, though, wildlife will find mixed yields of nuts, seeds, berries and fruits from various trees, with some reflecting impacts of pests, disease, and extremes in weather. Mast crops vary from year to year because cycles differ among species, and environmental conditions vary among regions and sites.
