One of the biggest complaints that crossbow shooters always have had was having to fire the bolt to unload it, unless you owned one of the few models that had de-cocking gizmos, built right in.

For 2025, almost every manufacturer has a model that can be cocked or de-cocked, without having to risk blowing out a shoulder.

That’s a major upgrade for rank-and-file horizontal bow users as autumn approaches.

Ravin R470
RAVIN

The R470 combines a compact design with exceptional speed, durability, and a silent, effortless cocking system. It measures 26.75 inches long and weighs 8.4 pounds and sports a velocity of 470 fps.

At its core is the HexCoil Cam System, with dual cables above and below the centerline to create a perfectly centered arrow path.

With 300 degrees of rotation, it delivers blistering speed, perfect balance, and elite downrange accuracy, all in one of the most compact designs in the Ravin lineup. Equipped with Ravin’s proprietary VersaDrive Cocking System, the R470 features a revolutionary dual lead screw drive for a smooth, effortless draw.

The internal brake allows cocking and uncocking to pause or resume at any point, while the built-in clutch prevents over-cocking, ensuring silent and seamless operation. It has an axle-to-axle width of just 4.3 inches when cocked and eight inches when uncocked.

The TRX 26 has advanced technologies, like a TriggerTech Trigger, Zero-Trac Barrel, and Guide-Lock Arrow Rest System, ensuring a secure and consistent launch platform. Additionally, the ACU-Lock Scope Bridge offers exceptional scope stability, while the ACUSlide MAXX system means silent and safe de-cocking, enhancing both precision and performance.
