The Land and Water Conservation Fund Coalition sharply condemns a proposal in the agriculture section of the budget reconciliation package that would slash more than $100 million from the Forest Legacy Program – one of the nation’s most effective tools for conserving working forests, protecting jobs in the woods, and supporting rural communities.
“This move is a gut punch to rural America,” said Amy Lindholm, director of federal affairs at the Appalachian Mountain Club and a spokesperson for the LWCF Coalition.
