Steve Carney: For ice-out crappie anglers, patience is a virtue

While it’s tough to fight the urge to fish for crappies immediately following ice-out, anglers should know that better fishing might not arrive until the water warms. (Photo courtesy of Steve Carney)

The ice is becoming a distant memory in western Minnesota, but it has been a slow go. Anglers, as they usually do, have the drive to hit open water as soon as possible but often have a tough time finding ice-out crappies.
Here are some thoughts.
