New York culvert project expands Adirondack brook trout habitat

An ongoing project involving NewYork DEC and Trout Unlimited is centered around culvert restoration and increasing stream flowage, allowing brook trout and other fish species to expand their habitat. The above photo is the finished product. (Photos by Trout Unlimited)

A collaboration between Trout Unlimited and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s fisheries staff in Albany, and especially in Regions 4, 5 and 6, is helping open up more habitat for brook trout in Adirondack  and Tug Hill region streams.
And more help for the official New York State fish is on the way.
