Illinois DNR issues ‘fish salvage declaration’ as drawdown of Little Grassy Lake nears

The Illinois DNR has issued a fish salvage declaration for Little Grassy Lake as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers prepares for a rehabilitation project of the lake’s dam and spillway.
Those structures “have aged beyond its engineered design life, and a complete lake draw-down is necessary to initiate repairs,” the Corps explained. The draw-down will result in loss of the fish population.
