Michigan DNR will get $38 million in federal excise taxes

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources will get $38.7 million from the federal government through the Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration Program.
Funds supporting this program are generated through self-imposed excise taxes paid by sportsmen and sportswomen on a variety of hunting, fishing, and boating goods. This year’s allocation is $1.1 million less than last year.
