Steve Carney: Final time on the ice produces some fun crappie action

Steve Carney says he’s made his last excursion onto lake ice for the season. However, the last time out, he was able to locate crappies and sunnies in shallow water, often just below his holes in the ice. (Photo courtesy of Steve Carney)

The last week of ice fishing for this angler was a bittersweet affair, but it’s now time to put away ice-fishing gear and get ready for open water.
The past three weeks have been rather exciting, because crappies and bluegills have been in shallow water and many were caught just below the ice hole.
