A few months ago, when I was preparing to write a story about a Penn State study showing household pet dogs were spreading antibiotic-resistant salmonella – a serious public health concern – one of the researchers made an off-hand comment I thought was surprising.
She said that one of the reasons they conducted the research was the growing trend of people feeding their dogs raw food. I had no idea that was even a thing.
