When the DNR received the latest Lake Mille Lacs creel survey data, it became evident that state anglers have taken more yellow perch than the allowed harvest limit for the year. As a result, the agency has begun examining how to proceed with perch bag limits for the remainder of the season rather than closing it entirely.
“We take our safe harvest level very seriously. I really want to make sure that people understand that. But we’re in new territory with perch here,” said Brad Parsons, DNR fisheries chief.
