Outdoor Insights: National parks are big business, so why are we gutting them?

Two weeks ago, the Trump administration announced it would lay off 1,000 National Park Service employees. A week later, after some backlash, we were hearing that some of those positions would be re-hired, and that additional seasonal staff would come on board in 2025.

Notes off a soiled cuff: Pennsylvania Game Commission receives fewer royalties from natural gas last year

At the recent House Game and Fisheries Committee hearing on returning the opening day of deer season to Monday in Pennsylvania, there was an interesting exchange between Rep. Cornell study finds contaminants common in northeast waterfowl

Working in collaboration with the state Department of Environmental Conservation, Cornell researchers tested five species of popular waterfowl in the northeast Atlantic Flyway, and reported finding contaminants in every sample, chemicals that could impact the health of both the birds and the hunters and others who consume them.
