New fishing regulations about to take effect in Minnesota

Among the many fishing-related changes the Minnesota DNR will implement this year is the separation of flathead (above image) and channel catfish regulations, once taken together for limit considerations. For flatheads, the limit will remain two fish; the channel limit will be five. (Stock photo)

Even though there are potentially six more weeks of winter as foretold by a groundhog, the Minnesota DNR is eying the open-water fishing season by updating some of its fishing regulations that’ll go into effect on Saturday, March 1.
