While a chronic wasting disease predictive model is showing that prevalence of the disease could reach almost 15% in Minnesota’s Fillmore County whitetails by 2028, it’s too early to nail down its prevalence another five years down the line.
“I didn’t look too much further ahead. … The further out you go, the less reliable the predictions are, and that’s just the case with all modeling,” said Dr. Sergey Berg, assistant professor of computer and information science at the University of St. Thomas, and the designer of the CWD model.
