Commentary: Lets re-think New York’s holiday-week hunt

Just like that, New York deer hunters were informed of the holiday week deer hunt, extending the deer season by reopening for another seven days, from Dec. 26 to Jan. 1.
No deer hunting groups or sportsmen’s groups lobbied for this season. No human dimension studies were conducted, no public meetings, no public surveys, no structured decision-making process and no long-term evolution of a season change request.
