One advantage of still putting out a print newspaper is being able to avoid topics with questionable news value by simply shaking my head and mumbling, “We’re not going to waste our ink on that.”
One regular example of this is when the Illinois Department of Transportation sends out a notice each November with a headline like, “Drivers warned of increased deer collisions during mating season!”
Other things and other decisions made by newspaper and magazine editors are more complicated.
