Pennsylvania’s Ray Swingle passed the one century mark Oct. 9 by shooting an eight-point buck with a 17.75-inch spread on the Susquehanna County farm where he was born.
He’d hoped to bag the deer on his 101st birthday a day earlier, “so I was a little disappointed,” Swingle said. “But he didn’t come out that night. He was late to supper.”
Swingle was hunting alone with a crossbow from one of several blinds on the 160-acre Union Dale property when he arrowed the buck from 20 yards away.
