As I explored the Ontario waters of Lake of the Woods for the fourth time last month, I was pleased that some of the lake’s 14,000 islands and 65,000 miles of shoreline looked familiar, but I was happy to rely on our experienced guides for navigation and advice on where to fish.
Ballard’s Black Island Resort is the only camp on 36-acre Big Black Island, which lies some six miles as the gull flies north of Gill’s Marina near Morson, Ontario. The resort can handle up to 24 guests at a time, and our group of 17 nearly filled it.
